YP from Raphoe come together in September for their weekend!
A weekend for the young people in Raphoe to come together socially and in a safe and fun environment to learn more about faith and to take it on for themselves. This weekend is organised by the Raphoe diocesan Youth Council (RDYC) and runs in September.
To bring young people from Raphoe parishes together at a youth weekend to grow closer together, while also learning more about faith, emphasising the concept that faith can be owned by the young people themselves.
A weekend encompassing small group sessions, talks, outdoor pursuits and team games with a group activity/quiz on the Saturday night.
How it meets the diocesan strategy:
Deeper: This may be the first time for some young people to be away from home, or to engage in small group activity looking at issues of faith. This weekend aims to promote that they can choose a personal faith in Jesus. Though the depth may not be theologically challenging, the very concept of going deeper is so important, that sharing this principle is the main objective.
Closer: In bringing young people together from Raphoe, they can make new friends. This is one of the main youth events for young people in Raphoe and is key in bringing young people together.
Wider: There is no real focus of going wider with this event, as the primary focus in engaging young people with growing deeper and realising where they fit into Gods plan. Of course in going wider, this can encourage depth, and perhaps in returning home they can share how much they enjoyed this event, encouraging others to come the following year. This would be the extent of any focus on growing wider.
